We have all heard the adage that “knowledge is power,” but what about the scripture verse that says, “be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2).
We are being transformed when we seek knowledge, truth, and wisdom.
What about greater knowledge of ourselves?
So many of us struggle with who we are. We don’t understand our “gifts” and talents or how to use them for His glory.
We may even feel that we don’t have any talents or that God somehow forgot about us. However, neither one of these is true.
We are uniquely created in the image and likeness of God. He has given us unique talents to share with this world.
In this vlog, Lisa and I chat about the depth of self-knowledge acquired by taking the StrengthsFinder test. We share our own experiences with how our results and analysis made us more self-aware and spoke into our true identity.
The Gallup website produces a top-five “strengths” or “talents” for each individual by using your answers from their online test. This information is invaluable for people struggling to discover or feel fulfilled in their vocations. The results provide the language needed for people to be more fully alive and to feel seen for who they are.
We also discuss how knowledge of your gifts and talents benefits those with who we minister or work. It leads to stronger relationships built on understanding and communication.
The StrengthsFinder should also be called the ShameBreaker. It provides us the opportunity to embrace areas where we struggle instead of feeling shame that we or others may impose on us.

The StrengthsFinder should also be called the ShameBreaker. It provides us the opportunity to embrace areas where we struggle instead of feeling shame that we or others may impose on us. Instead, we can acknowledge our struggle and nurture our positive attributes and strengths. Now we can look for ways to utilize our strengths, or others’ strengths, in our everyday life instead of constantly trying to improve areas where we have no natural inclinations.
Please listen and be inspired! We would love to hear your thoughts about the StrengthsFinder as well.
