Begin at the Beginning: A Brief History of Our Podcast
On Ash Wednesday, February 17, 2021, we blindly entered the world of podcasting by launching Saints for Slackers, a 40-day little-by-little journey for those who couldn’t take one more friggin’ thing (especially amidst a worldwide pandemic). It was our Lenten effort and turned into a big undertaking for us.
We scripted, edited, and produced 42 podcasts which included 37 saint stories over 7 weeks!
Joined with our sister organization, Red Bird Ministries, we also brought in 18 guest podcasters from various ministries and walks of life, and one musician/Minister to write our theme song. We launched our first 2 lines of podcast original merchandise – the Founders’ Collection and the silly Wannabe saints. And we bookended our podcast with 2 live events.
After all that huge effort done over 4 months, we were ready to be done. But then we discovered it was only the beginning. We had built up a gaggle of slacker listeners, and they wanted more!
What Made This Successful?
Must’ve been the Holy Spirit! But who can resist how the saints reveal the glory of God. And we had a great lineup of saints shared by a solid lineup of slackers. We’ve had a couple thousand downloads of our saint podcasts from slackers worldwide ? We have listeners from 28 countries and counting!
What can we expect in Saints for Slackers Season 2?
For Season 2, there will be a new round of saints, sinners, and storytellers across this journey. Through the beginning of November, every Tuesday and Thursday, we’ll drop a new episode on Spotify, and NOW iTunes also, as well as here, on the littlewithgreatlove.com blog.
Some podcasts will be funny, some thought-provoking, and some challenging. You’ll hear from us and some special guests once again; but all will bring us back to the ultimate journey of our lives towards Heaven.
